BSE Sensex closed lower by 144.52 points, or 0.42%, to 34,155.95, while the Nifty 50 fell 38.85 points, or 0.37%, to 10,500.90 on Wednesday. Coal India, Bharti Airtel, RIL and Adani Ports were among the top gainers, whereas shares of Yes Bank, Axis Bank, SBI and ONGC fell.

Saudi Arabia's sports authority has shut down a fitness centre for women in Riyadh. The gym was shut down because its promotional video showed a woman with uncovered head working out in figure-hugging clothes. Sports authority's head Turki al-Sheikh has ordered an investigation regarding the matter. Sheikh has also demanded the prosecution of the video-makers.

India may shut 1.36 lakh engineering seats

Engineering colleges across seven states have approached All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to reduce the number of seats in B.Tech/M.Tech courses by 1.3 lakh, effective the new session in July. The colleges cited vacant seats as the reason. Though AICTE hasn't taken any decision, it is likely to accept the demands of colleges.
