India to receive 97% normal monsoon in 2018

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today that India will have normal monsoon this year. Rainfall, the IMD said, will be 97% of the long-term average. "The country won't face deficient monsoon rainfall this year (June-Sept period)," IMD chief KJ Ramesh said, adding that monsoon will hit Kerala by May 15. The next monsoon assessment will be done in June.
