Tamil Nadu govt orders release of water from Mettur dam from July 19

In a major relief for farmers of the Cauvery delta region, the Tamil Nadu government ordered the release of water from the Mettur Dam from July 19. The storage level in the dam has touched almost 90 feet. The full storage level of the reservoir is 120 feet. CM K Palaniswami held discussions with his deputy O Panneerselvam in this regard.

The Sensex today ended at 36,323, down 217.86 points. Nifty ended at 10,936, down 82.05 points. About 554 shares advanced, against a decline of 2,042 shares, while 178 shares were unchanged. Infosys, NTPC, and Tech Mahindra are the top gainers, while Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, and Dr Reddy's Laboratories have lost the most. Shares of Jet Airways touched 52-week low.
