Maria Sharapova crashes out of Qatar Open

Former World number 1 Maria Sharapova was stunned by Romanian qualifier Monica Niculescu in the Qatar Open first round on Monday. Wild card Sharapova was defeated 4-6 6-4 6-3 in 2 hours and 38 minutes match. She was playing in Doha for the first time since 2013. Niculescu will take on Magdalena Rybarikova or Fatma Al Nabhani in her next match.

The CBI arrested Vipul Ambani, the president (finance) of Nirav Modi's Fire Star Diamond, in connection with Rs 11,384 crore fraud in Punjab National Bank (PNB), making it the first high profile arrest in the case, officials said. Four other senior executives were also arrested by the agency in connection with two FIRs registered by it in the scam, they said.
