Ather EL01 & Redux Concepts Unveiled

Ather Energy today unveiled its new EL platform-short for "enlightened"-at its Ather Community Day 2025 in Bangalore today. The new Ather EL promises a range of electric scooters that will be cost-effective, serviceable, and modular for future expansion with production set tot start next year. The Ather Community Day event also saw the debut of the EL01 concept-a family-oriented scooter prototype. The Ather EL01 concept features full LED lighting, large under-seat storage, a broad floorboard, 14-inch wheels, and an AC-DC module neatly tucked inside onboard storage.Ather highlighted that the EL platform differs from its current Rizta and 450 series architecture. It uses a unibody steel frame, simpler in composition. Using fewer components, the unibody chassis supports faster model roll-outs. Ather teased variants such as a maxi-scooter and a sporty model built on the same base. The new EL series scooters will slot below the Rizta series, targeting entry-level buyers. Ather plans to launch the first EL-platform product by the next festive season. Production will take place at its new facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra.Ather also addressed maintenance concerns. The EL-based scooters will feature new brakes designed to reduce pad wear. Service time is expected to drop by half, and maintenance costs will be significantly lower. The steel unibody keeps the weight near that of the aluminium models. A single-sided swing arm helps with weight control. The layout supports varied wheel sizes and longer wheelbases for comfort, opening doors for multiple design possibilities. The EL01's charging innovation places the charger inside the drive controller. This eliminates the portable charger and frees up under-seat storage. Display options may range from 5-inch TFT screens to 7-inch full-touch decks across EL models.Ather also revealed the futuristic Redux concept, which features a unique underbone-style setup, futuristic design and a host of "concept" tech that, if implemented and brought into production, will show us just how bonkers Ather can make their scooters in the future. Ather also introduced AtherStack 7.0 software setup. The latest Ather Stack features voice as a new medium of interaction with scooters, along with a host of new features designed to make it more intuitive and easy to use. Ather also announced its next-generation fast charger, enabling quicker charging for EV owners, along with updates to its existing product lineup.
