Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (September 13) inaugurated Mizoram's first railway line, marking a historic step in connecting the northeastern state to India's national network. The event also saw the launch of the state's first Rajdhani Express, linking Sairang near Aizawl with Anand Vihar in Delhi.The Bairabi-Sairang rail section spans 51.38 kilometres and was built through steep hills and dense forest. Government figures put project expenditure at roughly ₹8,213.72 crore. Construction included extensive tunnelling, numerous major and minor bridges, and complex earthworks across fragile terrain.
