Niti Aayog suggests reducing customs duty and GST rate on gold

Niti Aayog, the government think tank has suggested that import duty on gold could be brought down from existing level of 10% and also cut GST rate on the precious metal from current 3%. It has also recommended the government to review and revamp the gold monetization scheme (GMS) and sovereign gold bond scheme and introduce new gold savings account in banks.

Police will procure drone cameras for the surveillance of severely Naxal-affected districts to augment security. Announcement was made by Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma. Drones will be used by Odisha police to watch the movement of Naxals in Malkangiri and Koraput districts.  Sharma said, "We will buy some drones in this financial year.

Ibrahim Mohamed Solih wins Maldives Presidential Election

Maldives Opposition legislator Ibrahim Mohamed Solih won the country's presidential election with 58.3 per cent of the popular vote. Results released by the Elections Commission showed Solih securing 1,33,808 votes compared to the 95,526 for incumbent Abdulla Yameen. The voter turnout was over 88 per cent out of the 2,62,000-strong electorate.
