Barcelona won their second match in the Liga, beating Real Valladolid 1-0 at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla. French attacking midfielder Ousmane Dembele scored the only goal of the match on 57 minutes. Barca created numerous chances in the first half, but good goalkeeping by Masip kept the match goalless. Suarez later put the ball over the line, but was disallowed.

ICC starts investigation into Myanmar's alleged persecution of Rohingyas

A preliminary examination has been opened into Myanmar's alleged war crimes against Rohingyas in their own country. Myanmar had, last month, rejected a UN report that called for an investigation into the Burmese military accused of carrying out a genocide. The military had, previously, cleared itself of any wrongdoing. The military crackdown has seen thousands killed.

Malaysia's toppled leader Najib Razak was arrested by Anti-Corruption Commission Wednesday and will be charged over allegations that USD 628 million linked to state investment fund 1MDB ended up in his personal bank accounts. Najib and his cronies looted huge sums from the investment vehicle. Najib will appear in court Thursday afternoon.

India's largest cycloctron facility in Kolkata becomes operational

The Cyclone 30, which will produce radioisotopes needed for cancer diagnosis and treatment, has become operation in Kolkata's Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, which comes under the aegis of the Department of Atomic Energy. As a result, the machine will go into regular production by mid-2019. This is the country's largest cyclotron facility.
