Yangwang U9 Xtreme Is The World’s Fastest Car

The Yangwang U9 Xtreme, an all-electric hypercar from BYD's premium sub-brand, has claimed the title of the world's fastest car. The limited-run EV achieved a verified top speed of 496.22 km/h (308.4 mph) at the Papenburg test facility in Germany on September 14, 2025.This new benchmark eclipses the previous 490.48 km/h record held by the Bugatti Chiron 300+, which also achieved the record at the Papenburg test track and also marks the first time an EV has held the top speed record for cars.
